Bypass Route Update for March 15, 2023

Hello Neighbors!  Here’s the third update on the Heber City Council and the UDOT Bypass Road Resolution discussed at the March 7th meeting.

I’ve just seen the proposed language for the City Council Resolution to UDOT.  The Resolution does not support a preferred route.

It is asking UDOT to study ‘all routes’ and continue the Environmental Impact Statement.  This language could change at the March 21, 2023 meeting next week when the City Council actually votes on it.  You can see it posted in the agenda on Thursday, March 16th in the evening.  Go to:  https://www.heberut.gov/256/Agendas-and-Minutes

This is different than Ryan Stack’s ‘Memo’ to the City Council where he stated: ‘the majority of City Council members’ were in favor of the North Fields Bypass routes (WB3 & WB4).

See the proposed Bypass routes at:  https://hebervalleyeis.udot.utah.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/HVC_EIS_SC_Alternatives_Factsheet_6-7-2022.pdf

Even though the proposed Resolution does not prefer any route, UDOT still knows what the ‘majority of the City Council’ wants.

UDOT still knows that it was the ‘majority of the City Council’ who first proposed the North Fields Bypass routes back in 2020—before the rest of us ever heard about it!

See my previous updates at: https://heidifrancoheber.com/2023/03/04/bypass-road-whats-the-latest/   and https://heidifrancoheber.com/2023/03/11/486/

The proposed City Council Resolution just kicks the can down the road so UDOT will continue to study North Fields routes that should be eliminated from consideration.

Continuing to study Bypass routes through the North Fields could be considered a waste of money at best, and an attempt to circumvent the will of the majority of people in Heber Valley at worst.

Please take the time to send your comments to: ccpublic@heberut.gov  on this upcoming Council UDOT Resolution vote. This is the time when you can have the most impact on the City Council’s decision. Let the City Council know how you feel about the proposed UDOT Bypass routes.

Thanks for reading!  I’ll keep you updated.
